Gareth Davies, the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) of the National Audit Office, has reported on the 2020-21 National Employment Savings Trust Corporation Accounts.
He has issued a report on the accounts due to a qualification over regularity arising from an irregular special payment NESTC committed to and made. The payment was committed to prior to gaining HM Treasury approval, which was required under NESTC’s framework of authorities. Retrospective approval was sought and the request for this was rejected. This payment is therefore irregular and the C&AG has judged that this is material by nature. This led to a qualification over regularity.
