The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) and its arm’s-length bodies and executive agencies spent around £13 billion in 2023‑24 to encourage scientific and technological advancement by supplying research and development (R&D) funding, other activity to support innovation, talent programmes, physical and digital infrastructure, and regulation.
