In our June 2012 report for the Department for Work and Pensions we recommended ways in which it could strengthen its oversight of the contract.
This NAO impacts case study represents one example where there has been some beneficial change, whether financial or non-financial, resulting from our involvement.
Impacts case study
The NAO identifies areas of work based on insight from a wide range of sources, including correspondence from the general public and MPs.
One example is our review of how the Department for Work and Pensions managed its medical services contract with Atos Healthcare. In our June 2012 report for the DWP we recommended ways in which it could strengthen its oversight of the contract.
As a result, DWP has made a number of changes to improve its oversight of contractor performance.
What are impacts?
The NAO collects examples of where there has been some beneficial change, whether financial or non-financial, resulting from our involvement. All of these examples are subject to internal quality assurance review, and agreed with senior management of the audited bodies.
Financial impacts represent our estimate of the financial benefits achieved following implementation of the NAO’s recommendations to government, and are independently validated by our external auditors.
